What is my word?

I recently mentioned some of the things that inspired me to come up with the 28 goals, including the book Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. Never has a book had so much of a direct impact on me. I usually don’t read memoirs, but I decided to read this one during my trip to the States last month because I thought the premise was interesting and that I might be able to relate to some of what she went through on some level. The book was interesting and helped me do more than just relate.

At one point Gilbert and her friends talk about how every place has one word that captures the essence of it. Gilbert later applies that to herself and comes up with the word that describes her. It made me think about the word that describes me currently and for most of my life and the word that I want to describe me. Though less so now that I have realized it, my current word is FEAR. I have basically gone about most of my life with a social anxiety that has impacted all aspects of life. I have also thought about the word that I want to describe me. I’ve come up with RESPONSIBLE. RESPONSIBLE for me is doing the right thing in any and every situation – work, friendship, love, anything else.
